2018 Spartan Race – General Info

Here you can find all general information around the different championship events and the qualification rules around it.

Spartan Race 2018 organization:

This year Spartan Race is:

  • 30 Countries with 30 Regular Season.
  • 15 National Championships (Spartan Series).
  • 5 Regional Championships (European Championship, North American Championship, South America Championship, Middle East Championship, Asia Pacific Championship).
  • 1 World Championship.

The different Championships:

Regular Season:

These are non-National Series events that will feature Elites and Age Group races. At these races Elite and Age Group racers can qualify for the European Championship.

National Series:

New 2018: 15 National Championship Series around the world with five races per championship to qualify for the Regional Championships and then the 2018 Spartan World Championship. The National Series is for Elites and AG racers and participants can not only win the National Series ranking but also qualify at these races for the European and World Championship.

Regional Championships:

Once qualified through the regular season results or National Series events, the Spartans will be able to compete on the continental level: North America, Latin America, Europe or Middle East. Elites and Age Group categories will be represented- and additional qualification slots for the World Championship are available.

The qualification period for the European Championship 2018 starts with races after the 30 September 2017.

World Championships:

Release the beast that sleeps in you and prepare for glory! The best athletes from more than 30 countries will converge on the same goal, the most ruthless race in the world based on endurance, determination and determination. The best athletes of the Spartan Regional and National Championships will be in for an ultimate battle for the title of: 2018 Spartan Race World Champion. For the World Championships, only the results at the Regional Championships and the National Series will be able to qualify, Elites and Age Groups will be represented at the World Championships. Qualification for the World Championships starts on January 1st, 2018.

The qualifying places for the Regional and World Championships will be issued according to your age group, here is the table:

PLEASE NOTE: in all races in Spain, Andorra, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Netherlands and Greece the minimum age to participate in a Sprint is 16 and for Super, Beast and Ultra it’s 18. Therefore the age group category 14-17 is not applied in all Super, Beast and Ultra races and only applied as 16-17 in Sprint races.

Qualification Rules:

Regular Season:

Elites:

  • Top10 men and and top10 women will be qualified for the Regional Championship.
  • A Roll-Down system will be applied (the already qualified person will give his place to the 11th, and so on).
  • No direct qualification for the World Championships via the Regular Season.

Age Group:

  • Top racers Age Group will be qualified for the Regional Championship.
  • No Roll-Down in Age Group.
  • No direct qualification for the World Championships via the Regular Season.

National Series:

Elite:

  • Top10 men and top10 women will be qualified for the Regional Championship. A Roll-Down system will be applied (the already qualified person will give his place to the 11th, and so on).
  • Top10 men and top10 women will be qualified for the World Championship. A Roll-Down system will applied(the already qualified person will give his place to the 11th, and so on).

Age Group:

  • Top racers Age Group will be qualified for the Regional Championship. No Roll-Down in Age Group.
  • Top racers Age Group will be qualified for the World Championships. No Roll-Down in Age Group.

Regional Championship :

Elite:

  • The top20 Men and top20 Women of each Regional Championship will qualify for the Spartan Race World Championships.
  • A Roll-Down system will be put in place (the already qualified person will give his place in the 21st, and so on).

Age Group:

  • Top racers Age Group will qualify for the World Championship.
  • No Roll-Down in Age Group.

Details:

Podiums:

During each Elite and Age Group event, an award ceremony will be organized.
The Top3 Men and Top3 Women in categories Elite and Age Group will be rewarded on the podium.
