In its fourth year of existence in Spain, Reebok Spartan Race continues to set the benchmark in the sport of obstacle racing in Spain. By introducing the National Championship series for Elites it creates a new platform fort he Elite Community to strive for glory- and for a prize purse.
The Series has already started with the Spartan Super Race in Madrid on April 22nd, and will see further stops in Barcelona (Beast, 27th of May), Bilbao (Super, 24th of June), Andorra (Beast, 16th of September) and Cheste (Super, 28th of October).
‘This initiative strengthens the settlement of Spartan Race as a competitive sport, with national and international projection for some athletes that are proving to be found at the level of other disciplines and opening up a path that was a virgin, less than a five years’, commented the Country Manager of the appointment, Ángel Sanz.
Elite racers collect points in these 5 races, out of which the best 4 results are counted into a final ranking. The Circuit Ricard Tormo in Cheste will host the grand final of the series with its Spartan Super race, and participation in that final race is mandatory for all elites that want to be eligible to win the series and prize purse.
Together with the series sponsor Mercedes, Spartan is offering a prize purse of 5.000 € to be distributed among the Top5 male and female Elite racers in the rankings.
The spanish national championship series is another addition to the competitions that are hosted by the leading sports series in obstacle racing- the other highlight will be the European Championship in Encamp- Andorra on September 16th and 17th- where certainly the top contender oft he spanish national championship series will try to beat the rest oft he European elite racers.
